Christmas dog bow tie
Reindeer antlers fall off in two minutes, and most dogs hate Christmas jumpers with hoods. You still want your dog to be part of the holiday photos and the Christmas dinner. A Christmas dog bow tie solves this simply. It’s light, your dog will barely notice it after a while, and it looks festive in photos without looking like a costume.
Three Christmas patterns
Nordic Sweater
A classic Christmas jumper, just smaller. The red-and-white pattern with reindeer, green motifs and zigzag stripes looks like a knitted Nordic sweater. The fabric has a distinct woven texture, so the bow tie holds its shape and looks more three-dimensional in photos. Perfect for dogs whose owners love matching Christmas jumpers.
Mint Forest
A fresh alternative to traditional red. Christmas trees in green, white and yellow on a mint background, with small white stars. It stands out on dark and brindle coats. A pattern for those who want a festive mood without the classic colours.
Red Reindeer
Traditional Christmas red with white reindeer and snowflakes. An elegant, understated pattern that suits Christmas dinner and family photos alike. It looks best on light, black and golden coats.
Every bow tie carries a small metal FUNKY DOG bow tie charm, which is how you recognise the original.
Why a bow tie instead of a Christmas costume
A bow tie doesn’t restrict movement, doesn’t overheat your dog and doesn’t get in the way of play or food. It also works for dogs who refuse clothes. It can stay on all afternoon with the family, not just for one photo.
How to choose the right size
S – mini, 6 cm: ideal for breeds such as Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier or Prague Ratter
M – small, 9 cm: suits Jack Russells, Beagles, Pugs and Dachshunds
L – medium, 12 cm: suitable for Vizslas, Australian Shepherds, Labradors, Boxers and Border Collies
XL – large, 15 cm: ideal for dogs such as Golden Retrievers, Newfoundlands and Rough Collies
Cotton instead of synthetics
Our bow ties are sewn from cotton fabrics. Cotton is breathable, soft and won’t irritate sensitive skin or coat. It washes well and is biodegradable at the end of its life, unlike polyester accessories from chain stores.
Hand-sewn in the D.R.A.K. sheltered workshop
Every bow tie is hand-sewn in the D.R.A.K. sheltered workshop in Liberec and Tanvald. We’ve worked with them from the start. This gives work to people who would struggle to find it elsewhere, and we pay fairly for it. Bow ties are where FUNKY DOG began in 2015, and they’re still made with the same care.
€2.15 from every bow tie goes to animals in need
FUNKY DOG is a charitable foundation. From every bow tie sold, we give 55 CZK (€2.15) to shelters and rescue stations in the Czech Republic. Since 2015, we’ve redistributed over 3.8 million CZK. Your dog gets a stylish Christmas, and another dog gets a little closer to a home.
A Christmas gift idea
Looking for a gift for a dog lover? A bow tie is small, unbreakable and easy to wrap. It makes them happy twice: once for the gift, and again for helping shelters.
FAQ
Will the bow tie bother my dog?
It’s light and has no hard parts. Most dogs stop noticing it within minutes. If your dog isn’t used to accessories, start with short sessions at home.
How do I put it on?
The bow tie attaches to a collar or harness with velcro and has an extra elastic band for maximum stability. This keeps it straight all day.
How do I wash it?
Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent and let it air dry.
Where does the money go?
55 CZK (€2.15) from every bow tie is distributed by the FUNKY DOG Foundation to shelters and rescue stations in the Czech Republic.

I founded FUNKY DOG in August 2015. My name is Katka, and it all started with a bow tie.
In 2011 I passed a little dachshund mix on the street wearing a red bow tie on his collar. I knew right away that my Kadlo needed one too. I searched for four years - shops, vintage stores, second-hand places - but bow ties seemed to have vanished. Then in the summer of 2015 I finally found a men’s one I liked. Kadlo wore it all the time, and people kept stopping us on the street because of it. If nobody makes bow ties for dogs, I thought, I’ll make them myself. I designed the shape and the fastening so it would slip easily onto a collar or a harness, and started sewing.
From the very first piece I knew the sales had to help animals, the same way I’ve been involved in helping abandoned and abused animals my whole life. We donate 10 to 30 % of the price of every product to shelters and animals in need. The bow tie became our signature: a dog wearing one is supporting its friends in shelters.
Over time we added collars, leashes, dog beds and even our own insect-based treats. We make everything from hemp, linen and cotton, locally in the Czech Republic, and our textile products are sewn in a sheltered workshop. Together with two colleagues I also wrote a cookbook for dogs, Neštěkej a jez! (Don’t Bark, Eat!).
For ten years, the face of the brand was Mr. Cuddlo, our Kadlo, a purebred “hazelnut” with a big personality. He left us in 2025. His bow tie is now worn by Sendy, a ten-year-old lady we adopted.
